A common problem for new parents is that babies tend to vomit milk after feeding. This is because the sacral valve (entrance to the stomach) between the baby's stomach and esophagus is not fully developed. When babies suck milk, they inhale air, which floats on the upper part of the stomach. If the air is not swept for the baby, the milk will be discharged from the esophagus, which is called "vomiting milk". If the vomited milk accidentally enters the lungs, it may cause the baby to suffocate, which can be serious or minor.
Recommendation: Choose the right air-exhausting bottle and proper air-exhausting technique → helps reduce stomach bloating and spitting up milk
Method 1》Steps:
Place the baby on your lap with the back of the body straight and your hands supporting the baby's head.
Use two fingers to gently pull down from top to bottom on the baby's back near the rectus muscles (repeat several times)
Principle: Through the baby's body reflex principle, the baby's chest diaphragm stretches outward, thereby helping the baby to burp quickly and expel air.
《Method 2》Steps:
The caregiver sits on a reclining chair and places his or her feet in a stair-like pattern.
First, hold the baby on your lower thigh, then place the baby's upper body on the other higher leg (in a prone position)
At the same time, the baby's chin and hands should be safely supported on the caregiver's lap.
Finally, the caregiver bends his palm with a hollow center and pats the baby's back gently from top to bottom until the hiccups stop.
Principle: Since the baby's abdomen is large, it is easy to discharge the trapped air in the stomach by lying on the caregiver's lap like an airplane.
